Moving a retired server to the CATacombs

The CATacombs is the sandbox for our budding sysadmins. It gives them a place where they can apply the knowledge they are gaining from the Braindump to hone their skills in setting up systems – including hardware configuration, racking, and system configuration.

This particular occasion was auspicious as we were retiring the last of our Sun SPARC systems from production. The old server, chandra, has now materialized in the CATacombs and is there for folks who want to test out loading SPARC compatible Linux loads. (Nowadays, this is more for curiosity and practical use.)

Here’s a video of the shutdown of the server.
