The CAT held its Fall Barcamp on Saturday, October 6th. A large team of CAT volunteers planned, organized and set up the event which was held in classrooms in the Engineering and Fourth Avenue Buildings.
The event follows the structure of a typical self organizing Barcamp. The attendees arrive early and the agenda is written on the fly. People who are interested in presenting pick their time slots and room. The rest of the participants decide which sessions they want to attend. Driven by the audience, many of the sessions tend to focus on tech related subjects although the eclectic interests of the community is represented as well.
It’s a great place for new MCECS students to connect with more advanced peers and members of the local tech community. The informal and free-form nature of presentation, coupled with an intimate audience, provides a means for people to test out talks they are working on for other venues.
